Most
claims of discrimination or harassment are filed
with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
(EEOC) and the reason being is that is does
not require the employee or former employee
to pay anything to do so. The EEOC acts as the
Complainants legal representative. An employer’s
goal should be to settle these matters at this
level as the cost to litigate such matters can
be most cost prohibitive. Keeping in mind however,
that even if a Complainant’s case is dismissed
by the EEOC, Complainant’s still has the
option to perfect claims of this nature through
the Courts but at such time it is more likely
for such person to incur legal expenses. However,
through experience most claims are settled on
the EEOC level. |
